still no deer for me here in KY! It's starting to cool off now though. I did film a buddy shoot a nice doe here it is. Look for the hunt to be on www.sportsmenswayout.com later this fall. Just to rub it in a little more, I've been 11 times so far this season, 10 of those were with the camera though! My one time with the bow I passed on 2 young bucks.

Well I'm back from the morning hunt. Saw2 small does, but I still have some meat from last year so I let them walk. They were actually playing directly beneath my stand...WHAT A RUSH trying to hold still as they sniff the rungs of the ladder I climbed 45 min before. I practiced drawing on them while they were about 22 yds out...If they were bucks....I'd be having tenderloins for dinner.

Tonight I'm heading over to my Uncles where he gave me an awesome opener eve present.....he told me he's seen a big 10 or 12 thats roaming around by my stand!!!! guess who I'm looking for tonight.:D

EDIT: Sunday Morning: Well went to my uncles, but the big guy didn't show. had a small three point walk in and I drew on him for practice, but didn't take a shot. This deer also walked into the bottom of my stand and didn't get alarmed so I have a feeling my scent elimination system is working!!!

I'll be out again monday...(don't have school....YES!!!)

Hope the rest of you guys had some luck.

What IS your scent elimination system?

and what do you all use for scent elimination?

i just use a spray, and wash my cloths in teh no-scent detergent...

im currious to see what works..

OH by the way, it was 78 and 76 Saturday and sunday so i didnt see a damn thing, it was way to hot for the deer to move, this weekend looks to be a little bit cooler, besides that i cant stand it in a tree when its around teh 80 mark... i perspire too much and im sure that doesnt do good things for my scent elimination... :)

I do all that and wait til I get to my spot to get dressed (I wear shorts and t-shirt there then just strip next to the truck and dress in my camo). I wear in the t-shirt, use it to wipe down then seal it in a ziploc and put on a fresh shirt.Ofcourse when it gets cold I just add layers. I also use stealth dust. I store my clothes in scent proof coleman bags from walmart. I used to wear rubber boots, but have gone back to regular boots used just for hunting and doused with scent elim spray just before enering the woods. I also avoid touching any vegetation or trees with my bare hands! It kills me to see a guy walk up to a beautiful rub then touch it!!!!!!!!! Don't ever do that if you're hunting with me!

Good to see more get out this weekend...even though the temps were rising. Thought summer was over? Anyway, Was able to get out both am and pm on Saturday. Saw three does in the am, and a dead 8 ptr in our creek...not happy about that. He wasn't too bad. Would have definitely thought about shooting him.

PM hunt saw 11 in a new hunting spot that I just got access too. Shot two does Sunday morning. Neither one them went further than 30 yards...they died 8 yards from one another. Kind of an odd morning, but I'll take it. Usually this is the type of thing that happens on opening morning for shotgun season.

Had to take yesterday off of work to skin and cut the deer up. Extremely pleased and have meat in the freezer...now, just need to wait on the big guy!

congrats on the does hunter25.

Well monday was a very nice day for me. Went to my grandpa's lot and didn't see anything in the morning until i was walking back to the truck and two bucks came trotting past. one was a small 4 pt, and the other was a larger spike. both came within 15 yds of me, but i wasn't prepared (ie no arrow nocked and didn't have release on) so they got away unscathed.

in the evening, i had 2 does and 2 fawns come into a scent bomb i put out (KISS #1) and drew back on one of the does for practice. it was way too hot to shoot a doe for meat though. (70's). my dad had great luck in the evening...well kinda....he had 10+ deer come into the field he was hunting, but they all came in too far away and when it was too dark. he thinks there was atleast 3 big bucks....i ended up starting the truck so the deer would leave and he could get down.

tuesday night (tonight) i went back to my uncles, but didn't see anthing...once again, very hot out.

***
as for my scent elimination, i wash my clothes in hunting detergent and seal them in tubs with dirt and leaves. before i go out each hunt, i wash in scent eliminating soap and were shorts and t-shirt to the location, then i bring my clothes out of the tub and get dressed...then i spray down w/ scent killer spray and put a little coon pee on my boots for the walk in. i also wear rubber boots and scent lok clothing under my other clothes.

I'm going to try and get my butt out in the woods for a couple of hours this evening. Have an hour drive home from work, then have to get stuff in order (shower, etc.) before I go out. Hunting spots are only about 5 minutes from my house, so that's good.

NW wind this evening, so don't know what to expect. Majority of my stands are good for a SW wind, but I'll make do.

When are you guys going out next?
