ORIGINAL: highcountryuser

How do i slug my bore to find the dia of bullet. i would love to shoot 308 dia bullets out of it.. all help is welcome. thanks.
I have found that .308" bullets shoot very well out of SOME nominally .311"-.314" groove-diameter bores. For example, a friend of mine had a British Jungle carbine (No. 5) in .303 British, and we were able to develop a load for it using the Sierra .30-cal. 200-grain PSPBT bullet that shot into 1" at 100 yards. Likewise, I have a 7.65mm M1909 Argentine Mauser that is extremely accurate with those same 200-grainers, both Sierra and Nosler Partitions. I miked the bullets I pulled from some Argentine military ammo-they weighed185-grains, and were .314" in diameter. My rifle will shoot them safely, but they arenot nearly as accurate as the .308" bullets in that rifle.

This 7.65X53mm group was shot with .308" bullets, both Nosler Partitions and Sierras, same powder charge.....
