You are thinking that you will not have enough adjustment with the rear sight to shoot conicals? I have several of those old style blades hear if you want one. If you take that one out use a mic and measure from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the sight. Most, but not all, octagon barrels use a .500 as they come from the factory. Anyway I have several if'n you want one...

I like the stock the way it looks now... This Rengade I did over actually came out to dark for me but man it is a nice piece of wood...
