Default RE: BEAVER, sink or float

I've shot lots of beaver mostly head shot with .22LRHP and hit in either the back of the head swimming away (my fav. shot), or sideways between the ear and the eye usually causing them to thrash around on the surface for a minute. Then they float and I retrieve them with an ultra light reel and an 8" piece of broom handle with a 6" pike leader and large treble hook attached. Good for ducks to. I liked the 223 as well for head shots with 55gr. FMJ. they just stopped what they were doing and lights out! I seen one 50lb male with half it head missing alla .222 55gr. Sp dive under and was found the next day floating. Amazing tenacity. CCI stingers /Rem Yellow Jackets are best in the 22LR..........Biggest I ever got was a 55lb male that covered a half sheet of plywood stretched 4x4 ft
