Where to stick a turkey?
Having shot several turkeys with a gun, I am going to try and kill one with a bow this year.
I am wondering exactly where I should try and hit the thing however? I am shooting Rocket Hammerheads, which I chose over the Gilliotine, to avoid some pretty extreme bow retooling.
Thinking back on the anatomy of a bird, I certainly need to hit him a bit forward and high. I would suspect that hitting him high would be much more effective than low. And I would rather shoot over one than under one. My biggest concern is crippling one, and I am sure that all of you have the same concerns as I do. My real question is: Do I shoot in front of the wing, over the wing or through the wing? Should I try and neck shoot him to just cleave his head off (which those 2" Hammerheads will do), or do I try and shoot him through the back at a going away angle?
Thanks in advance.
