I have a .223 and it works good. If I were buying a gun exclusively forvarmints, I would buy a .204 or a 220 swift. The .204 witha 40gr bullet has more energy and velocity down range than a Swift, no matter what bullet is used, even though the push higher velocities out of the barrel.
Please post some figures on what you have said above. When a .204 pushes a 40 grain pill out to ~3900 fps (highest load data found on net) and a 220 swift pushes a 40 grain pill to 4477 (Lee's Modern Reloading Book info), I just wonder how the .204 retains it's energy and velocity and the 220 doesn't.
I am not saying that you are wrong, just want some info to help improve my knowledge.
