Round here we call em chiggers. And I agree those things are a terror but thankfully I've never got any during turkey season. I'm assuming they're not out then.
Down here Chiggers and Ticks are two different things.Chiggers you get when you wipe your buttwith Spanish Moss.

Ticks you pick up whenwalking and laying in theGrasses.

Then of course we have the No-See-Ums....[:'(]
