How large a piece of paper where you shooting at? Where were most of your pellets hitting? Pattern density has a lot to do with a "good v. bad" pattern. I used to pattern on those turkey targets and occasionally found that my best pattern might not always shoot the most pellets in head neck. I like to shoot at a 3' by 3' piece of paper, and draw a 12" circle around the most dense part. Doesn't have to be in the middle, especially if you have sights or a scope. I like to shoot off the bench too, since before when I would sit on the ground I would occasionally flinch before that 3.5" cannon went off (go figure).

Might want to try a little bigger target if you haven't already, or just look at what you have. That Tight Wad should be right much better than a factory full. But.... you never know...
