Had my first coyote hunting experience this weekend...I'm wondering if the weather messed them up or something else was goin on.

Here's what happened. After spending a few months watching the Randy Anderson videos and practicing calling enough to get banished from the house by the wifey, I went out this weekend. Family's hunting farm--lots of yotes around, so I know they're there.

Friday evening: fairly warm, but cold front getting ready to move through, and 30 mph winds. Called in several setups, careful about scent issues. Mix of howls, pup, distress calls. No response.

Saturday morning: First part of front moved through, torrential rains, didn't go out.

Saturday night: Weather looked like it was going to break. Colder (mid-30s), but the wind had died down and the sky had cleared. I was outside and happened to hear one bark a couple of times off in the distance. I run in, get my call and give one good locator howl. 4-5 yotes instantly go crazy in response off in the distance, howling, yipping. Noise dies down, I give another locator howl, same thing. So I know (I hope!) that I'm at least on the right track with my calling.

Sunday morning: Second front moves through, now it's snowing and winds 20-30 mph. I try calling again, multiple setups, conscious of scent, no response.

Someone please tell me that the weather will fowl them up! I would like to think that I'm on the right track and just had bad luck with the weather this weekend. However, if weather shouldn't have any effect on them, then I'll need to reevaluate the things I was doing.
