In my younger years I really enjoyed and looked forward to hunting in Canada. But after they decided that all hunters from the States had to have guides to hunt, I decided to hunt in the US only. To explore new states and game has been a real thrill. Maybe the hunters in the US should pull a Zumbo on Canada or at least insist that all hunters in the US with a Canadian passport be restricted to guided hunts also.[:-]
Why is the hunting so good in Canada? Because there is no pressure, if we were to allow everyone and their dog up here it would ruin it for everyone. We are protecting it forour hunters as well as the hunters who wish to travel here to hunt. If it was a zoo ofpeople it wouldn't be worth coming here. We allow non guided waterfowl hunting in sask and its an honest battle competing with americans paying farmers for hunting rights.I do not have to beat out other resident hunters for permission i am having to make sure i scout/ask before the americans get to them, shouldn't be that way. You can hunt in alberta without a guide however require a host. Personally i like this system because it still limits the amount of non residents coming in but lets a few slip under the outfitter fees. As for restricting Canadians to guided hunts its already going on. Personally ido not have a problem with it, i am not a citizen of yourCountry i should have to pay a little extra to have the right to hunt, as you are not a citizen of our country, works both ways.
