RE: Long & Boring Treestand Field Report
Great review! I would like to say a couple of things however. I have used both...the hand climber and sit-n-climb Lone Wolfs. The sit-n-climb version does not weigh 4 lbs more. It is as listed at 16.5 lbs., a mere one lb. heavier than the hand climbing version. The sit-n-climb bar can also be used as an armrest or gunrest if so desired.
I also added foot climbing straps because I prefer and find it easier for me to ascend using foot straps, but I do descend placing my feet between the brace and bar. Its just something that works for me. I have never slipped one time in the Lone Wolf and after using Summits, Loggy Bayous, and Ol Man's, I find it grips much better as you say with any irregualarites on the tree.
One more personal opinion: I have never trusted v-bars and on more than a few occasions know of friends who have slipped using v-bar climbing stands.
All in all the Lone Wolf is a great climbing stand and either the hand climbing version or sit-n-climb seem to be reliable, strong and quiet. Both are good choices. Again........great review CargoF16!!!!!!
