RE: 400 yard trophy?
I would take the shoot with my .300 win mag in a second IF the deer is standing broadside with little or no wind. I have taken several deer in the 300-400 yard range and one at 630 yards. If you shoot alot, know your rifle, have a scope with target turrents to adjust for wind and elevation, and a rangefinder it is very do able.Heck you dont really even need target turrents or a rangefinder out to 350-400 yards with a good rifle.Yes I enjoy shooting deer at long range. Thats why I practice on groundhogs all summer long.
