RE: Controlling the "Big Buck" Anxiety
Until I got the first bowkill under my belt I was a shaking fool at every deer sighting which resulted in quite a few misses. Now I take deep breaths and focus on the task at hand, I quit looking at the entire deer and focus on the vitals, pick my time to draw, pick that hair on the chest and the rest seems to be on auto pilot now. I shake like crazy after the shot and would not have it any other way. If I lose that racing heart and trembling hands after the shot I will give up bowhunting. It is a feeling that I have never had when gun hunting and that is what sets it apart for me.
