Default RE: deer and elk ammo

Vapodog--I do my own elk hunting here in Colorado. Have my own tent, stove etc and have hunted the same ridge for years. I know it like the back of my hand. Most of the elk taken in my camp have been mostly cows, then a handful of spikes and now we are staring to get some nice bulls. The point restrictions are working !!

Have fun in Africa !! I went there this past spring and can't wait to go back. I took 5 animals--kudu, zebra, impala, steenboc, and warthog. You'll have the time of your life. Are you going to South Africa? If so I would recommend you try & spend a couple of days in Kruger National Park. I actually cut my hunting from 10 days to 7 just so we could spend time in Kruger. Saw the big 5 there. Love those black mane lions !!!

It was my 1st time out of the USA & I was a little afraid of customs, so I used the guides gun, it was a 30/06 with 200 grains round nose bullets. Plain jane PMC ammo. All were 1 shot kills. Next time I'll take my own rifle---there were no problems with any of the other hunts on the flight. The South Africans treat us like royalty.

The only drawback is that LONG LONG LONG plane ride !!
