RE: deer and elk ammo
Colorado Bob.....you're my kind of man and I don't disagree with you in the least..... However please hear my side of the story.....When I go elk hunting, the guides, outfitters, pack trains....and all the horses and magnificient times cost in total around $4,000. A fifty pack of 200 grain Swift A-frames cost about $50. And it lasts me at least three of those trips!!!
We might argue that the Swift A-Frame is marginally better than a Remington Core-Lokt.....but you'd have to admit that it was better!!! Yes marginally better....but better!!
I just signed up for my first ever African Plains Game safari and I'm using my .300 H&H for Kudu, Eland and other plains game. The 200 grain bullets I bought is nothing compared to the cost of the trip and my piece of mind knowing that I have the very best there is, is worth a lot to me.
There's so much that i can't control on a hunting trip like this......but the performance of my ammunition is something i can control.....and I choose to do it.....and at an insignificant cost.
