I had an 835 and shot several of 3.5" 00buck loads, pretty rough. I agree it's more of a push than a sharp recoil. It felt a little worse than my 35Whelenwithmaximum handloads,250gr bulletsand a wood stock. That was before I got the thumbhole stock and recoil pad.
