Default RE: Do soldiers make better deerhunters?

i was an good shot and a good deer hunter long before i became a soldier. Army marksmanshipdid teach me onething. It taught me the value of the sitting position. Many military folks are not good marksmen for the same reason that most cops are not good marksmen: They do not shoot enough. Some military folks are good hunters.

i often shoot on a military range. Love to put the first three shots into 1/2 inch at 100 yards, pick up my target and walk off the range showing the group to the troops. They look at each other as if to say: "Where did Gran Paw come from.'' One daymy arrogancegot me into a shooting contest with a full Colonel and i got badly beaten.

The very best deer hunter i ever met was a Navy Seal and a native American. We were sitting outside the club one day drinking beer and watching some deer graze. He started crawling across the lawn toward the deer. About 45 minutes later he touched one of them. Love to hunt with him.
