Default RE: 1st YEAR TO TURKEY HUNT: NEED ADVICE

Since you already know where the birds are, that's one part of the puzzle done.As far as your gun is good to go-it may shoot lead and steel good, but get a few differant boxes of turkey loads and pattern it.Now for what call to use.Use whatever call(or calls)you're proficient with. There's box calls,diaphragms,slate/glass pots,push-pull calls. The mouth yelpers are probably the most difficult to master so if you get these types, practice!Pretty much any brand of call will work if the turkeys are ready to breed.A common mistake of alot of new turkey hunters is that they tend to overcall.Let the bird dictate when you call-this is something you'll learn with a few seasons under your belt. The easiest call to use IMO is the box call-the disadvantage to this and the pot calls are hand movements.Get an instructional tape, learn the calls of the wild turkey and practice-ALOT!Good luck to you and I'm sure there will be more advice and pointers to follow.
