RE: Looking back... High points 2002
I have a few also....
But this one I will always remember - it was my first deer.
I'm carefully walking to my stand & I spot 3 deer in the alfalfa field about 200 yards away. 2 had racks - the other might have been a spike.
I am able to stalk to within 40 yards - there is no more cover & I am directly upwind of all 3 deer. I choose one of the bucks that is broadside. I can't even draw my bow I'm so excited & nervous. I wait at least 5 minutes to calm down. I'm able to draw, I sight my bow, a cleansing breath & release.
The buck went down 40 yards away within sight. Wow. He was a very big bodied 7 pt basket - 162 lbs field dressed.
Never forget it. 2nd day of the season of my second year bow-hunting.
I love this sport.
Have 'till the 17th of January & plan of filling a few more tags.
