RE: Looking back... High points 2002
There are a number that come to my mind but to keep the post short I will share just one.
I was shooting some video of a forkie walking around the tree when suddenly out of the blue a young rut crazed ten pointer came trotting out of the brush to my right about 10 yards from my tree stand. I grunt with my mouth and he stops like a bird dog on point. The forkie starts walking toward the small 10 which causes all of the hair on his (the 10 pt.) neck and along his spine to stand up on end. He then lifts his tail straight up and lets out a snort wheeze while at the same time making a very interesting facial expression (enhanced by his nostrils being pinched together). As the late Chris Farley once said, "THAT WAS AWESOME!!"
The forkie ran and hid in some brush but I thought he had run to the next county. After the young wheezer left the forkie came out of the brush and continued his walk past my stand.
Being that I had never experienced a snort wheeze in the wild before it was certainly a highlight for me.
