I had an incident like that this spring on a fawn. It was very ironic because the guy that hit it was and proclaimed animal rights activist in Omaha. I had a knife in my truck. He was just standing there watching this deer bleat with a crushed pelvis but not dying. When he saw what I was going to do he said he had to leave. I told him to stivck around because he was advocating no hunting and I told him this sight would be repeated over and over if hunting was banned. I double lunged it and it was over in a few seconds. I don't know if he converted or not but he thanked me for ending it before he got in his car and left. I understand him in a way. They don't want to see animals suffer and I feel the same way. They just don't realize that the nonhunting ways of death are more brutal than a well placed arrow.
