I don't favor crossbows or rifles in archery season. Never will. Not EVERYTHING that may make some bio sense can be instituted for other logistical reasons. An early rifle will screw archery up more than people think, ESPECIALLY in areas that are spotted with open and not open land. The deer will be driven to thier safe havens much sooner than normal. They won't return just cause the rut comes in, the bucks will still be where the does are, on nice safe ground.
At the end of the season a dead deer is a dead deer. If we are SO worried about saving a few weeks food for these deer, then we got a lot bigger problems than a doe season is going to solve.
