Well, I cast my original vote already...but if given a choice between having rifle for doe for a week in October...or crossbow for doe for a week in October then I vote for the latter.

You bring up some interesting issues. I have never heard of a decrease in accuracy or kinetic energy for a crossbow at longer ranges. (I would tend to believe your third point though <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>) What facts do you have to back up your first two statements?

I know that most crossbows must utilize at least a size 2219 aluminum cut to a minimum of 17 or 18 inches with at least a 125 grain point in order for damage not to occur to the crossbow. I will have to head over to Bow Jackson's website and figure out the weight and kinetic energy levels for that setup...
