280 is a really neat round very versitle the 7mm-08 is similar but the 280 will work better for heavier bullets. If you look into any hunting that has been done with the 7x57 (which has hunted every game animal on earth including elephant) it the 7x57 is btween the 7mm08 and 280. so if that is what you want go for it. You my not be able to find ammo for the 280 like you can the 30/30 or 30/06 but that may not be an issue for you.
