Just got to correct ya on nosler bullets. I have been using the 120 gr ballistic tips in my 7mm08,.284,and.280s for years with awesome results.
Yes,the 30-06 does have heavier bullet options,but as far as deer size game,the .280 will beat the 30-06 with less recoil,flatter trajectory,and with proper bullet/placement,seems to have slightly higher percentage of instant kills. I am stating this based on almost 40 years of hunting experience,and 25+ years as professional gunsmith.
