Default New to 3-D competition

I have been hunting for a few years and just bought the Drenalin and wanting to shoot it so bad. So a couple of buddies and Iwent to an indoor 3-D shoot, my first they have been to them before, I had a blast and am just curious about a few things. I understand the 3-D course, but how does the 300, 600, and vegas competition work? Remember I have only hunted, some of them guys had those bows with the 3 foot stabalizer on the them what is the reason for such a long stabalizer? The shoot I was at had medals for 1-3 and am not sure if any $$ for prizes, It was a small local shoot. What kind of prize money is there on average, and what kind of money if any does the biggest tournament pay? What is the top competition? I imagine Nationals or something to that affect. Thanks I did glance at the IBO website a bit but still have them questions. Thanks in advance for any answers. I look forward to shooting many more competitions. By the way I shot a 253.
