Default RE: new to turkey hunting

I would go to Cabelas, Gander Mntn, or Bass Pro before the turkey season. These stores usually have their calls out on display to try out. Find one that works good for you, your comfortable, and sounds good. The buy it and practice like H*ll. Buy a couple turkey hunting videos (I recommend HS Cut'n Strutt'n 11) and take note on how their calling.

To find hunting land. Just go around and ask farmers for permission. Most farmers want all turkeys dead and don't have a problem letting someone hunt (it isn't as hard as finding a bow hunting spot). Tell them you will respect all their rules, be polite, and tell them your trying to help reduce crop damage. Has worked for me, and I think it will for you also.
