Like seemingly everyone else on here, I have absolutely no problem with any weapon of choice so long as it is legal. However, anyone would have to admit that a rifle is easier to get an animal with than a bow just because of the increased range and lack of necessary movement to make a shot. should have any issues about admitting the same to any bowhunter. It's not an elitist position, it is a realistic position.
And hence where the aforementioned attitude comes from.
What about the normal pattern of a deer in bow-season vs the 1 million hunters that hit the woods opening day of gun season? Do you think the gun hunter can just climb up in his everyday treestand and see deer?
The bow hunter is not superior. The
average guy hunts the same area, maybe the same stand an entire season. He feels superior why? cuz he sees an unalarmed deer going through there normal routine?
Kid yourself all you want..you are not looking at this with an open mind..this is why many, even among our own ranks, think we are self righteous horn tooters.
It's not apples to apples..that deer you see 300 times in 46 sittings is not coming through on opening day of gun season to nibble on the lush grasses. It is in survival mode.
The rifle hunter to be successful needs to know where alarmed deer are going..not just pattren it, day in and day out..
I hunt gun and bow..and I agree as someone said earlier..the gun is more of a family thing and the bow is more of an individual thing. I prefer Bow Hunting. That's me..I'm not better than say Jim Shockey ..just because I do, and I'm also not better than Joe down the street.
Next time you think Gun hunting is so easy..go down to the regional forums and mention to a guy in PA how easy it is with a gun.. That will be a 40 page post!
