These are the type of stories that I was talking about. Something so simple gets overlooked until it bites you in the butt. Year after year and mistake after different mistake brings the kills easier and easier each year.
One of the most important things to make one a better hunter, is to learn from those mistakes. In just over one page of this thread, one can learn the mistakes it would take several seasons to overcome.
After one experience, I learned to take a good look around before doing my business. I got caught with my pants down that year. Literally.
I found that forcing a situation to happen often leads to a long ride home. One of the hardest lessons I learned was to not only have the patience to wait for the animal to show up, but more importantly, to have patience when the animal showed up,to let things unfold as they will. Trying to make things happen leads to disaster.
