I have an old Argentine mauser bolt-action rifle that my Father left me.

I believe it is a model 98 but do not know for sure. It has been sporterized with a flip off scope mount and radiused bolt handle. It is now chambered for .30-06 but I don't believe that was the original chambering. I would also like to know what the original chambering was (7.65 X 54?)

I would really like to know exactly what I have. I never intend to part with it as, you know, it was my Fathers.

If I post some nice pictures of it and the markings on it, would anyone be willing and able to tell me what I've got? If so I will post good pics very soon or PM them to anyone who wants to help me out.
