Rebel,

1.Is the camping free during the hunting season.?I read the brochure and I'm confused.

2. How are the roads? I've only got 2 wheel drive?

3. Do I got to get a special permitto camp there at the hunting camps that are primitive?

Thanks fellows.

Reb..I was planning to hunt it during Black Powder since the Green Swamp has no Black Powder.
I appreciate the info.
Chuck, I see things have changed since I have been there! The roads were good when I was there andI only had the1988 Tahoe S-10 Blazer 2WD then. I had no problems.
You can see it's big, almost 300,000 acres. The West half is in Columbia County and the East half is in Baker County. If you go in from Lake City, there's a Rifle Range close to Lake City. Chuck, there's alot of Black Bears there, especially in Baker County.
My hunting partner had an encounter with a Black Bear there. He climbed a tall PalmettoPalm Tree with his stand and a Huge sow wanted to climb and eat the Berries at the top. Don't climb the palms and unless you believe your life is in danger,DO NOT SHOOT A BEAR. The BAN is still on!
