You are right...you made all the right decisions and did the best you did with what you were given. Nobody can make the perfect shot everytime...that a given. What sets you apart is the fact that you DID make all the right choices afterwards and found your doe. Yes it stinks that it got partially eaten, but there wasn't a whole lot you could do about that.
