Default RE: most shots taken to kill a deer?

ORIGINAL: JohnnyLonghorns

This is really bad, but in my defense it is a deer slug I'm shooting. 3 years ago it took me 9 (that's right) shots to drop a bruiser. He was chasing a doe in heat and wouldn't leave her. She just kept bringing him back in front of me!

This year I shot 6 times at a buck before he ran off. When I got to him I found out I hit him 3 times. Again he was with a doe and wouldn't leave her.

Both shots were at 100 yards.
Wow....I don't think I've ever taken more then 5 rounds into the deer woods with me. I assume you had to reload atleast once for 9 rounds right?

Most I've ever shot...well the first 2 deer I shot at I totally missed. I'm talking less then 100 yards, total, complete, miss.

Since then I've taken deer from 15 yards to 278 yards with one shot each. Each have dropped nearly in their tracks w/ the exception of2:

Abig doe I shot w/ a muzzle loader, it had been raining and I had a bit of a 'hang fire' even w/ a inline (not the new ignition systems though, this was 10-12 years ago) and shot a bit low on her when she moved at the sound (maybe 30 yards). I'm amazed I ever found her.

The second I shot while it walked down a creek bed. This one had the courtsey to jump up out of the creek after it was hit. Even picked the 'right' side to come out on so I could pull the 4wheeler + trailer right up to it.
