That speed thing is something I was hoping would come up here.

A deer has plenty of time to totally remove it's body from the path of an arrow at 15 yards a 280 fps. Do you think if he could do it at 220 fps he couldn't at 280?? Rent Hunting October Whitetails. It has a great "miss" area, in which a guy completely misses a deer as it drops a full body length before the arrow gets there. This was less than 5 yards with an 80# bow.

Dick, your right, those deer you photograph prove my point. They don't drop and run at that distance, just look your way.

I don't have to tell you what a deer will eventually do when you fall over in you lawn chair, nocking over your pop, bag of chips, and spotting scope(it's quite a scene!), but even then my wife said they stopped feeding to look my way first before they ran.

Also, no one can anticipate a deer step, but your still taking a chance at any range.

Shoot a quiet bow, at a relaxed deer, with at an exact, practiced distance, and you'll do fine.
