RE: Very Interesting Read
I too worked for 30 years where carbon is used, in the dry cleaning industry. We use it in filtration. I've said the same thing this guy has. I know how well carbon holds contaminates, in dry cleaning it's dyes and fatty acids. They even hold gallons of dry cleaning fluid after drained in heated cabinets for days. At nearly $5 a gallon when I left dry cleaning, we tried to recover every gallon we could. We ran filters through a pressurized steam stripping operation that would reduce the amount of fluid retained in each standard cartridge to a 1/2 gallon. Beyond that it was cost ineffective to continue. Fatty acids(like sweat)and other non volitile contaminates can not be removed so each contamination degrades the ability of carbon to be useful. Hurray for this guy for having the guts to take it to the carbon crazy manufacturers. I'm sick of all the smoke and mirrors of todays clothing. They put it in everything now. It's almost impossible to buy a pair of boots or camo without it. All it does is jack the prices up on us with little or no value. After a year of the most careful use..two at most... it's shot. Why should we have to pay for something we don't want that doesn't work. WE don't and shouldn't.
