RE: Long range hunting! *VIDEO*
WhileI acknowledge the skill required to hit a target that far away I just personally don't care for trying shotsat live game from those distances. I also wonder as another poster said before how often they wound animals they never find.I found it sort of telling when that one guy on that video said, "Now you hit that one" after one shot. The way he said that sort of implied that they hadn't hit some of them. I have read some threads at a few websites that actually have a permanent long range hunting section in their forums. Despite the way that video makes it look these guys who do thisdo not score consistent first shot hits on these deer from those distances. They miss a lot and with good reason. Even slight shifts in wind speed or direction can change your POI notby a number ofinches butby a number offeet at 800 to 1000 yards. My personal belief is that you should limit your shot distance to the range at which you can consistently score a first shot lethal hit the vast majority of the time. That distance will of course vary from hunter to hunter butI don't think that anyone no matter how much they practice can consistently hit the vitals on a deer at 890 yards with their first shot. There arejust too many variables.
