A lot of the revenue generated from bear hunting, be it in the spring or fall, comes directly from the states. The sportsmen here in the U.S. travel to Canada to hunt and with them comes money. Money has more influence than anything else in the world and we all know it.
U.S. hunters stop traveling to Canada to hunt and your outfitters lose quite a bit of money, again, be it in the spring or fall.
I agree with you Dan to a point.
Here is the skinny version of this matter. From a Canadians perspective. Ontario, well its ontario. In all honesty the most hated province to us western folk other than Quebec. I agree that the bear outfitting was pumping alot of money in to that area but do you have any idea of the population of that province, or better yet the cultural diversity? In the south they do not have a sniff about what goes on in the wild or here out west. Problem is there is12 million of them there almost half of Canada's population. Guess what happens at election time, well we get to vote yes but after the east has tallied up the votes we might as well turn the T.V off because our seats will not change anything. There are so many of them there that we cannot make changes in our own country, so how do you expect to? Do you think the banning of a spring bear hunt in Ontario is going to affect the cabby driver in Toronto because he won't have the hunters to pick up from the airport? Or the hotel owners whorent athousand rooms to hunters each year but a thousand a month for the gay pride convention? Gimme a break.

Would this ever happen in sask? no because we have a pretty redneck population of 1 million who likes to hunt, drink pil, and streak at rider games. However in the near future it will come in that American waterfolwers will have to be guided in sask. Now i expect the number of guys coming up to goose hunt drop drastically. Thats hotel money lost, meals, tags, fuel, shopping etc. Huge spin offs lost from this law. Yes outfitters will make some of this back but not the amount lost. It is not always about money. American hunters going way beyond limits, leaving geese in the field, bribing farmers for permission, etc has all led to this.

HCH made a good statement b4 stating that he does not know why we do things the way we do things. Exactly my point.
