I was going to write a post on this, but Cayugad hit every nail on the head. I honestly think that the distance at which your gun can reliably hit a grapefruit, from a rest,is its maximum effective range. With open sights and a good load, that distance is about 175 yards. With a scope, maybe 50 yards further.
