Wow
Went hunting with DaveH Monday. To say the deer are hearded up is an understatement. Upon entering our hunting area we jumped deer in numbers in every direction at long range. The woods are so bare you can see forever and we were spoted. We thought well, we're cooked now but pressed on and selected trees anyway for our evening hunt. Half hour or so later I get a shot at a doe @40 yrds, shot over her by inch's. An hour or so into the hunt and I see deer coming out of a hedgerow about 70 yrds out and they just kept coming and coming and coming. It was like the school door open for recess, I would say 50 or more deer came busting out of that hedgerow with most going straight across the field and 20 or so entering my woods some 35 yards below me. They were horseing around getting up on thier hind legs and boxing one another occaisionly looking my way. Thinking I was made I looked behind me and there was 2 beautiful red foxes 10 yards behind me. After a while everything dispersed leaving me no shots. Dave calls me on the radio and says some of them went down his way and that there are2 bucks and a single doe in the field below him one a very respectable 10 point. These 3 deer make there way past him offering no shot and end up in my liveing room. After about 15 minutes of fooling around and coming within 35 yrds of me they leave never to be seen by Dave or me again that evening. That closed out our hunt but we will be back Fri evening and Sat morning. Temps will be 24 for a high but we have to give it one last shot and call it a year. These deer are really hearded up, either your going to see a lot or nothing at all. Great way to end the year weather we score this weekend or not.
