RE: Pinwheel-Opinion on Merlin Shadow
Sorry, but the Shadow has been discontinued since early 2000, so it will not be a 2002 model, someone is pulling your chain. It was Merlins' "middle of the road" bow in 2000, one that had some of the better features, but wasn't yet one of their top offerings. I would suspect this bow to be a 1999 model, lots of them came over here to a distributor Merlin was trying then,(which didn't work) I was the only factory Merlin dealer in late 1999/2000 and didn't sell many of them. Larry Wise also had a few, come to think of it.
The twin cam was 38" ATA with a 7" brace height, IBO speed around 300-305. You cannot change it over to a solo without it gaining approximately 10 lbs in draw weight, and buying new cams, modules, and string will run you about $80-$100 or so depending upon where purchased, totally up to you as to whether you would like to spend this much money on upgrading a used bow. They sold for around $389-400 originally, and came with three plastic grips which vary to fit personal style. They shot well, but cannot be compared to Merlins' top of the line models IMO. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12
