As far as I'm concerned, the caliber of choicedepends on these things:

1. where you're shooting coyotes. at your house with 150 yds range or are you gonna possibly go out west where a longer shot is possible?

2.are you gonna hand load or factory load. money can be tight at times as well as finding a dealer with the factory loadyou want for your caliber and purposes

3. are you in an area where you can leagally hunt deer with a rifle? multipurpose tool.

4. personal preference. i've seen video of a guy shoot and kill (near bang flop) a coyote at 200 ydswith a .204, as well as larger calibers such as .338 federal and45-70 out to 250 yds.

TO ME. . . it boils down to shotplacement and what you like to shoot. WhereI live, I have a max range of 200 yds.At 280 yds I have houses all around me. So, I chose a .204 for a variety of reasons. It has proven success and I have seen failure.A 7mm is too big for me personally. IfI lived out west I'd skip the 7mm and go for the Turkish or Chec 8mm Mauser!

Practice and shop around. Don't limit yourself too much.
