RE: Politically correct bowhunters
You are right about hunting and fishing creating revenue for fed and state but I still value the right to hunt and never take for granted that it will always be there.
As for your other views, it all boils down to perseption. Bowhunters are viewed as a seperate segment of the hunting community. Even some fellow hunters do not allow bowhunting on their land because they think that an animal is more likely to be wounded and never found. So if everyone began showing pictures of bloody deer with arrows coming out of them it could have some very big impact on the bowhunting community. You keep saying that the antis are not going to stop hunting, but there are plenty of cases where they stopped bowhunting. I can actually name several cases in my state of NC where bowhunting was not allowed and the cities actually paid snipers to kill the deer. So the cities could care less about the revenue from permit sales but instead spent $300 per deer to have the herd thinned. Think about all the urban hunting opportunities we are missing out on. Many of these chances to hunt are missed because of the other 80%'s perception of our sport. You said money talks and money is the key so what about the other 80%, are they tax payers? do they vote?
by the way, The blood and guts and spineshots do not bother me nearly as much as the "very fake and very happy day after" recovery. You know when gut shoot a deer and watch the footage to confirm and then come back the next day to find it. Then run up to the deer and jump up and down talk about how glad they are they found. They show no remorse over the gut shot and I have even seen some that mention they lost the meat but at least they have the horns. We all know this happens but it should be handled differently.
