Though I'm not sure, I don't think the fuel line hosewill work well. The cable will probably slop inside the hose or the hose mightroll against the tree with the cable inside it. This could potentiallyposea danger ifthehose decides to roll as you are climbing.I can also see the hose peeling itself off the cable eventually. But like I said, I'm not sure about this so the only way to know for sure is to try it out. I would first climb up and down the first 5 feet a couple times before ascending to height as a precautionary step.

Also, JB weld isn't a good idea because it hardens and cracks with repeated pressure. I'd just get a handful of medium plastic zip ties and put one every 3 inches.
