Does the opticalviewfinder on your camera run parallel to the main lens, or does your viewfinder actually look through the lens? On most digital cameras that are not SLR, the viewfinder is parallel to the main lens, positioned above it,and what you see through the viewfinder is not necessarily what the lens sees. The LCD sees what the sensors in the lens see in real time, giving a much more accurate represenation of what the picture will look like.
