I've never tried it, actually, never thought of it. Neat idea. Ideally, you wouldn't want a seam at all. There's no way, I don't think, if there's a cut seam that's not "welded" back together it's ever gonna stay on there. Those babies take some wicked abuse, and I'm quite confident it would fall right off. Maybe some kind of glue.....JB weld perhaps to glue that seam together??

I would think it would be best to get tubing the chains will fit in, and just pull them through....with the help of some Dawn dishsoap or something similar.....
