RE: 3in. mag vs. 3.5 supermags
Ok, I see. If your shooting 1 1/2oz at 1350fps, then I will tell you your well past factory shells in the 2.75" range. What load are you using? Longshot? Thats a stout load your using. I would say most people on this board don't reload there shotshells. Its not really a fair comparison. And I would say he was using at least 2.25oz of shot. And as a reloader, you know as well as I do that, wieght has alot of do with recoil. As far as you getting just as many on paper as him, that is really a matter of choke don't you think. What size was he using and you using. I mean he does have almost twice as many shot as you.
Shooting far, you can get some serious velocity's with a 3.5" shell in the 1.25 oz range. Which I think can be good for waterfoulers, especially goose hunters and turkey. Really depends on the load he was shooting. Now I goose hunt with guys that use a 3.5" and cater there shells for long distance, and not heavy loads, and they can reach out farther than my 3". I will also admit, that 3.5" is just too much for me. That goose just doesn't mean that much to me. Let him fly. Also, I don't know of anyone that makes slugs 3.5". Don't want no part of that. 3" already puts a wolup on me.
