My fluxing consists of melting the lead in the pot, stirring it good, and scraping the dirt and scum off the top with a spoon I borrowed from the kitchen (I even got my wife's permission). Then I dropped a piece of candle wax in the pot and of course it smoked and then flamed. After that I scraped more residue and scum off the top of the lead. I always ended up with a thin layer of tarnished scum on the top that I couldn't get rid of. The roundballs were nice and shiny. That is what I was doing. The question is what should I be doing???
