44 Magnum Bullets
I went to Federal Ammunition website and pulled up some data on the 44 Magnum and I am confused and need help understandsing something. The 240 grain, model C44A has different knockdown energies when shot from a handgun and a rifle. The bullet when shot from a handgun has 740 ft/lbs of energy at muzzle and 550ft/lbs at 100yds. When the same bullet is shot from a rifle it has 1,650 ft/lbs or energy at muzzle and 1,015ft/lbs of energy at 100yds. I also do not know why the muzzle velocities are so different 1080ft/s vs. 1760ft/s. I am shooting this bullet out of a lever action Winchester Model 94 and want the most knockdown at 100yds for deer, but, most data is not available using a rifle. I would appreciate any Help
