Default RE: Speer Gold Dot 300

ORIGINAL: donw

I've been following the various testing that Sabotloader and others have done on the Gold Dots. I did some searching for specs for various Speer bullets and found this brochure.

.233 bc for the 300 GD is amazing! I'm kind of thinking about trying these out, as I may get to hunt elk next year. The 250 grain version is merely .175 bc. Seems that the 300 would be some pretty good elk medicine even out to 150 yards.
I've been using them, and they hold together real well even on bone hits--limited testing. I like the 300g for down range energy--I like complete pass thrus so I have a blood trail to follow. With a 1:48 twist FL, a .78 bullet or smaller will stabalize. The GD are exactly .75, I measured one last night. I shoot Harvester Sabots, Crushed Rib, .452.

Thanks for the Catalog, I like the process descriptions, gives me additional info on how they keep the bullets together. Interesting.
