RE: Get your Deer Dogs and Get Out
Funny you mention a beagle Lanse. Out of all the dogs stopped from running the farm, this one beagle was by far the toughest.
A small group of them came thru and I chose the beagle to volunteer. Smallest one -best practice, right? Man when hit, that little mutt did a full 180-degree backflip! (Never could understand how/when an animal is shot from the side - it does a backwards flip. I would think probobly a barrel roll or something. Go figure)
Anyway, bang and down. The other mutts scattered into the woods. A couple minutes later, a couple of the other ones come back and start kindalicking him. The beagle gets up and I take the biggest one down. The others, including the beagle go trotting off!
Later that night we find the beagle laying up by the barn by some hay bales.
I guess I got off pretty darn lucky looking back and knowing all the wealth of info I've gathered here as no one came picking my teeth with a .44 mag and I wasn't sued for the farm.
Whew!
